Expert consultant for authentication & disposition of fine art
Consultation - An informal verbal evaluation of your art object(s). Matthew will assess the object(s) and attempt to determine basic facts such as: original or copy; medium (i.e. oil, watercolor, lithograph, etching, commercial print, etc.); estimated date of creation; artist and information on the artist if known; condition report; approximate estimate of value; and any questions he is able to answer at that time. Consultations are suggested for those having a general curiosity about their art without the need for a formal written evaluation. The consultation fee is $145 per hour with a minimum of $45 and may apply to more than one picture. An approximate total fee may be quoted in advance with no obligation to proceed.
Appraisal - Written, certified appraisals are necessary for insurance, estate or legal purposes, when documentation, value, and authenticity are significant factors. Although some written appraisals can be completed immediately, some require time for research, especially when large numbers of objects are involved. This may be accomplished within a 24-hour period, or may require a few weeks more. The fee for written appraisals is $200 per hour, with a $200 minimum. An approximate total fee may be quoted in advance with no obligation to proceed. If a house call is necessary, an additional flat rate house call fee will be quoted in advance.
